Each month, Dressage Winnipeg will highlight one of our members.
Kassidy Pascoe Kassidy Pascoe hails from the Northwestern Ontario city of Thunder Bay. Having discovered Dressage Winnipeg shows a couple of years ago, Kassidy and her mom Jill joined the fun for the first time in September 2021.
As the trip to Birds Hill Park is nearly 8 hours of travel one way, the weekends spent with Dressage Winnipeg are adventurous opportunities to learn, grow, and immerse oneself in the dressage life for a few days. Kassidy has been partnered with her gelding Almost Illegal, more commonly known as Jake, since June 3rd 2017. Jake is a grade pinto gelding who came from a Grunthal auction in 2013.
Going on seven years together has resulted in some lows, many highs, and a whole lot of memories. Despite life’s challenges and curveballs, Kassidy has always managed to hang onto her special guy that brings her so much joy. As a plus size Adult Amateur, on a less than traditional horse, Kassidy and Jake aim to break down barriers and show the world that dressage is for any body and for any horse.
“If you stay the course, and believe in yourself, your dreams are more than attainable. The time will pass anyway, so keep doing what you love and striving towards being better than you were yesterday. Even if the path is less than linear, and even if you can’t see the result you desire - keep going. It will come.”
Kassidy and Jake’s goals include making their debut at First Level in 2024.
