Each month, Dressage Winnipeg will highlight one of our members.
Robyn Cochrane-Fones I have been an Adult Amateur Dressage Winnipeg member for a few years after falling in love with the sport when I started riding horses 12 years ago. Attempting to make up for participating late in life I try to make the most of this hobby juggling my time between caring, training, riding, and showing 2 of my 4 horses and the rest of my life as a parent of 5 adult children, a daughter, a wife, a career as a Nurse Educator and soon to be grandmother (I see a pony in my future!). What an exciting season 2023 has offered me! From experiencing a big show at Thermal with my personally bred 6 year gelding Leo to showing my ever talented 15 year old Hugo at Dressage Winnipeg , Leo at Westman and both in a couple of Fun show events to participating in clinics with Brittany Fraser- Beaulieu, Natalie Hamilton-Hinnemann and Anna Buffini. Giving back to the sport of dressage is so important. This year I have assisted in putting on two grassroots dressage Fun Shows to encourage a try at this equine sport , volunteering when able with DW, co-organizing clinics and continuing to share my 22 year old schoolmaster Fortune with the younger generation. Looking for more fun in 2024 where hopefully Hugo is ready for PSG, Leo masters his changes prepping to try a third level test and a bond is formed with the newest member of my equine herd.
