Rider Spotlight - June 2023
Each month, Dressage Winnipeg will highlight one of our members.
Annika Kriening is an FEI Junior Dressage Rider and DW member. Annika and her horse, Francis XI (Fetti) have been training and competing together for a year. They board and train under Mackenzie Thiessen at Solace Stables in Headingly, MB. Annika and Fetti have had a busy schedule so far in 2023! They began the year in Wellington, Fl training under former Olympian and high-performance coach, Evi Strasser, while competing at the Global Dressage Festival, White Fences and Jim Brandon Equestrian Centers.
From Florida they travelled to Quebec to continue training under Evi Strasser. From Quebec it was on to Ottawa to compete in the National Show at the Ottawa Dressage Festival where they had great success: first in the FEI Junior Team test, the FEI Junior Individual test and the Rising Stars Equitation Ride-off.
They also competed in the FEI Freestyle Test of Choice Open category where they placed second. Annika and Fetti have declared for the 2023 North American Youth Championships in the Junior Division.
NAYC will be held in August this year in Traverse City, Michigan. Having achieved all of the required qualifying marks, they are back in Manitoba awaiting word on Team Selection!
